Mechanical Engineering Technician Robotica lab


Delft, 38 hours a week

We are looking for a motivated technician to sink her or his teeth into:

  • establishing our high-tech lab environment and our large-scale robotic infrastructure with focus on both finctionality and machine safety.
  • implementing robotic applications and endeffectors (tools) with the in-house software engineering team, and using these applications with our industry partners for manufacture, assembly and inspection of high-tech components.
  • to give instructions and training to our community members to make use of the infrastructure.


You will be surrounded by a team of aerospace engineers, software engineers, TU Delft technicians, students and industry experts to jointly take the advanced manufacturig sector to the next level.

Requirements

  • Minimum a degree Intermediate technical college (mbo+/hbo), preferrably in mechanical engineering, specialized in precision engineering (e.g. robotics, mechatronics engineering).  
  • Experience in a technical background in the field of mechanical, mechatronic or automation engineering engineering with experience in installing machines, infrastructure and/or facilities.
  • Experience with programming PLCs, robots, cobots is a pro, but an eagerness to learn in combination with on-the-job training is an acceptable alternative.
  • Ability to work handson in a driven team within a high tech environment.
  • Technical drive: interested in robotics, pneumatics, mechanics.
  • Excellent English and Dutch vocabulary (read/write/speak).
  • Flexible: Able to work in a dynamic, creative an innovative environment.
  • Driven to make an impact.
  • Able to deliver high quality standards with respect for safety.  
  • Ability to work with CAD and MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Conditions of employment

This position has an amount of 38 working hours per week (1.0 fte). The offer contains a temporary contract with the prospect of extension. The salary is based on knowledge and relevant work-experience. Faculty Aerospace Engineering
The faculty of Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology is one of the world’s largest faculties devoted entirely to aerospace engineering. In the Netherlands it is the only research and education institute directly related to the aerospace engineering sector. It covers the whole spectrum of aerospace engineering subjects. In aeronautics, the faculty covers subjects ranging from aerodynamics and flight propulsion to structures and materials and from control and simulation to air transport and operations. In astronautics, topics include astrodynamics, space missions and space systems engineering. The faculty has around 2,700 BSc and MSc students, 225 PhD candidates and 27 professors supported by scientific staff.

World-class research from both the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering and the Cognitive Robotics department of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is combined with challenges from industry. In a dedicated factory space of 2000 m2 SAM|XL is building a variety of large-scale, near production ready, automated robotic cells to develop and demonstarte flexible manufacturing and AI technology, in close collaboration with engineers from the partnering companies.
