A Roof system is a complex assembly of all technologies used in automotive industry. Operating in a critical location in the vehicle with high mechanical and performance specifications; i.e. safety, acoustical, optical, high speeds / Wind load. The mechanism is the heart of a sunroof, controlling the glass movement with maintaining functionality and safety to low cost and high level of standardization. A mechanism is a complex assembly containing aluminum extrusions and over molded sheet metal parts.
The Global Technology Specialist has a substantial role in the global product development strategy of Inalfa Roof Systems. As a the Technology Specialist you are an expert in mechanisms and you are responsible for all knowledge issues concerning this commodity. You are able to find all required information to apply this technology in a specific, advanced project. You will provide scouting, acquisition, development and application support to the different Inalfa regions within your domain of expertise, to control and manage knowhow, balancing costs, weight and specifications. You team up with a plastic and metal specialists, international purchase and quality department, regional mechanism specialists and product development departments amongst which advanced engineers for new roof system concepts. In this role you report directly to the Director of Technology.
As a Technology Specialist your main tasks and responsibilities (within your area of expertise) are:
• Create technology roadmaps for your commodity based on research;
• Provide active input in the strategic commodity planning and international standardization process;
• Lead small projects and take part in research assignments;
• Delegate the design of components and modules to the Development Engineers;
• Control and verify the design of components and modules;
• Participate in the drawing up of the functional specifications and architecture of our subsystems;
• Provide support and advise to business acquisition and/or Product Developers;
• Sustain level of expertise on your technology area;
What do we expect from you?
You have a finished degree in Mechanical Engineering / Automotive Engineering on a BsC or MSC level. Automotive experience is a plus but not always necessary. We do expect you to have expertise with mechanical engineering, metal and plastics and you have knowledge of different design methods and commodity engineering processes.
As a professional you show vision and long term perspective. Innovation and creativity are part of your DNA. You have a service/customer oriented approach with good analytical and organizational skills. In your work you are able to provide consultancy and transfer knowledge on different communication levels. The job requires a good command of the English and German language. Dutch and/or French are a plus. Travel occasionally to different regions.
