After working very closely together for many years, Vanderlande Industries and Beewen agreed on a take-over of Beewen by Vanderlande. This take-over further strengthens the position of Vanderlande as an integrated player with a full product portfolio. In the new set-up Beewen will be the AS/RS centre of competence within Vanderlande with the prospect of growth in line with the strategic ambitions of Vanderlande Industries.

11/21/11 Vanderlande wins baggage handling system contract for Saudi Arabia International Airport

Vanderlande Industries has been awarded the contract to supply and install the baggage handling system for the new terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The contract has a value of over EUR 125 million, one of the largest contracts in recent years in the world. The new terminal will open in 2014.The baggage handling system order forms part of the total contract for the terminal which was awarded to the Saudi Binladen Group, one of the largest Contractors in the Middle East. The owner of the airport is the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).

09/12/11 Vanderlande supplies systems for 3M European Distribution Center expansion in Germany

Vanderlande Industries has won the order to supply and install the order picking and sorting system for a major expansion of the 3M European Distribution Center in Jüchen, Germany. Vanderlande will also handle the connection to the existing logistics systems and will install a new material flow control system, all without interrupting operations in the centre.The new facility will be located opposite 3M’s existing European Distribution Center. Vanderlande Industries achieved sales of EUR 566 million and net earnings of 3.9% of sales or EUR 22 million in financial year 2011 (ending March 31st 2011). Sales increased slightly by 3% from EUR 549 million last year, while net earnings were slightly lower. The company has benefited from the recovery of the Distribution and Parcel & Postal markets by increasing order intake in both segments. Customer Services have continued to grow and sales exceeded the EUR 100 million mark. Total order intake, however, decreased to EUR 509 million which is 17% below last year’s figure. This was mainly due to the general weakness of the Baggage Handling market in financial year 2011. The Baggage Handling market is late-cyclical, and is now showing signs of recovery...
